I chose to research the issue of juvenile sex offenders because of my work in sexual abuse prevention.  The policies are often inconsistent and sometimes overly punitive.  Research shows most juvenile offenders are victims and need rehabilitation.  Statistics show that if proper services and rehabilitation are received, juvenile offenders can go on to live healthy lives without further issues. 

This book highlights many of the issues with our incarceration system and offers some solutions on how we can do better.  While there are some critics of the book, the mass incarceration issue in the United States is a known problem and one that we should be working to address.
